About
Welcome to Ho Hah Restaurant, a charming gem nestled in the heart of Wan Chai, Hong Kong. Located at 216 Johnston Rd, this local café serves as a true testament to the city's vibrant cha chaan teng culture. With a warm and inviting atmosphere, Ho Hah has carved out a niche as a beloved spot for both locals and visitors alike.
The heart of the menu features a delightful array of dishes, with an emphasis on Hong Kong café classics. Diners rave about the perfectly cooked noodles, which strike the ideal balance of tenderness without being too soft, as noted by Pearline Lam. The drinks here also shine, especially the coffee milk tea, which has garnered praise for its unique flavor, thanks to a proprietary tea blend. Patricia Layog noted it as possibly her favorite milk tea in Hong Kong.
Not to be missed are the iconic offerings such as the HK French toast and the rich, fluffy peanut butter and condensed milk bread, both of which evoke nostalgia for the traditional cha chaan teng experience. The English menu accommodates international visitors, ensuring that the goodness of local flavors is accessible for everyone without the need to grapple with Chinese characters.
The atmosphere at Ho Hah is cozy and relaxed, perfect for enjoying a quiet meal or a leisurely brunch. As Borja Trujillo described, the genuine old-school vibe meshes beautifully with the delicious, authentic food that keeps customers returning year after year. Tina Leung’s experience with a simple yet satisfying meal highlights the nostalgia and familiarity that this establishment evokes, making it a must-visit for anyone seeking comfort in traditional fare.
Whether you're stopping by for breakfast or an afternoon snack, Ho Hah Restaurant promises a delightful culinary experience. With friendly service and a menu that warms the heart, it's easy to understand why this establishment holds a special place in the hearts of many. Don't miss the chance to enjoy a taste of Hong Kong's rich culinary heritage here at Ho Hah. It's more than just a meal; it's an experience waiting to be savored.
“ Noodles weee cooked perfectly not too soft. Love it. The drink was the perfect sweetness. Definitely go back. ”
“ Simply impeccable. One of my favorites since years already. Hong Kong cafe classics like HK French toast or coffee milk tea, as delicious and authentic as it gets. Genuine old school atmosphere, relaxed and comfortable. Superb. ”
“ Saved this place to try when in Hong Kong, definitely a traditional cha Chang teng. Old school settings and atmosphere. Menu was all chinese, but they do have English menu, just need to ask ( we can not read Chinese, so definitely helpful to have a English menu.) Food was simple but delicious. We got 1. Satay beef noodle 2. Peanut butter and condensed milk bread. 3. Hot ovatine 4. Cold milk tea Bread is so fluffy! So many bread options so delicious. Noodles also not soggy, made well. Will come again for more bread options and brunch food! ”
“ Nice place. Wasn't expecting too much from a cheaper, more casual place so I'd say they met my expectations. Everything was good but not spectacular. Would get the coffee milk tea again. Would pass on the French toast if I could go back. The servers were friendly. ”
“ Very cozy local café, nice place for a quiet homey breakfast. I got the french toast (which I can't stop thinking about) and the iced milk tea with coffee. They make their own tea blend, so the flavour was unique and probably my favourite milk tea in HK so far. ”
“ Milk tea was really great. One of those places that you go for the nostalgia more than the food and drinks. ”
“ A long-standing Hong Kong-style cha chan teng or cafe offering sandwiches, toast, noodles local and snacks. An easy venue for some iconic local food & drinks at a reasonable price. It was about HkD49 per person. Service was basic, and staff was mostly friendly and accommodating. The interior and utensils were a bit old. ”
“ The food is fantastic, and the milk tea is comforting. Recommended for tourists who would like to try Chinese cuisine. ”
